M C A D S I T E M A T E R I A L S
summer 1998
All pages linked to this directory were designed as a resource for whoever will actually implement these solutions on the MCAD site. Most of the layouts are marked with the "comment" tag "CONTENT SEGMENT" for your convenience. these can be cut and pasted on new pages, arranged into new layouts... I tried to keep the source code marked with comments whenever I could so that the predesigned modules can be assembled easily into new pages as the need arises.
Some general formatting notes:
Background on all the pages is white "FFFFFF"
For all "body" text use the "666666" grey.
Links are black "000000"
Active links white "FFFFFF"
And visited links turn red "AA1100"
The same red is also used in some layouts as the "header" color - the idea being that since one is looking at that page - then it is already "visited"...
I used similar red for the words describing MCAD on the front page. The actual color used for these (in case someone wishes to expand the "word bank" at the moment consisting of 42 words pulled from the catalogue) is:
R: 174
G: 25
B: 2
The font used for these and all other image-text-headers is Base9. I sized the type at 18 points and spaced the letters at approx. 3pts.
Preliminary selection of pages can be found here:
MAIN ENTRY
These were created mostly to experiment with the images and simple/clean compositions. All of the pages in that group utilize the "SPACER" tag, which for some reson does not work with InternetExplorer. I replaced the vertical "SPACER" with 5 consecutive "BR" tags. All the pages below avoid "SPACER" tags and should work fine with Explorer. (Thanx, Brad, for the testing!)
This is the main entry page, but with no "faulty" spacers:
NEWEST MAIN ENTRY
A few pages with more complicated layouts, some of which were designed with specific content from existing pages are here:
MCAD CALENDAR
and a different version of the same material, but with image sequence carried over from the main page:
MCAD CALENDAR 2
CONTINUING STUDIES
and a different version of the same material, but with image sequence carried over from the main page:
CONTINUING STUDIES 2
Also a possible layout for a deeper level page from the Continuing Studies area:

Some more layout ideas/modules are available here:
Layout tests
and a selection of single sample modules:

IMAGE BANK info:
There are currently 232 images being randomly pulled into the sequence, in 4 cathegories:
left edge fade (66p) 33 in bank:
central image, full width (66p) 100 in bank:
central image, half width (33p) 66 in bank:
right edge fade (66p) 33 in bank:
I think this is a satisfactory quantity providing almost certainly quite dramatically different visual experience. The bank, however, can be expanded, should such a need arise.
