New Voices, New Visions
Digital Art Competition

Recognized by the jury as an Honorable Mention: The SPLEEN is "a visually seductive and disturbing exploration of the power of propaganda."
Organized by Interval Research Corporation and The Voyager Company, the third-annual New Voices, New Visions international artistic competition in digital media intends to inspire fresh and experimental works that express the potential of the medium. The competition's jury, comprised of leading artists and performers, convened September 18 -20, 1996 to review and decide the winning pieces. The jury members included Laurie Anderson, Performance Artist; Beryl Korot, Video Artist; Vernon Reid, Guitarist; and Ntozake Shange, Novelist. The winning works were selected from a pool of 430 entries from film makers, graphic designers, poets, musicians, students and writers of all ages, representing 15 countries. The works will be presented on Thursday, October 10, 1996 at the Walter Reade Theater as part of the Image Innovators Series sponsored by the Film Society of Lincoln Center. They will also be exhibited at Interval Research Corporation beginning October 15, 1996.
