Changing Places offers the possibility to establish and explore the position of an artist in the City. City being defined here as both: physical and non tangible social structure created in an effort to provide the People with the space to live, work, entertain, grow, interact, develop intelectually and spiritually. The purpose of this study is to:

Understand and redefine the City as an ideal/concept rather than object-bound urban structure;

Explore and analyze the multiple aspects of life within the City;

3
Define the advantages and disadvantages of the ideal and life of the City as contexts for art;

4
Create work for specific locations and audiences within the City.


Changing Places is a component of the Accelerated Summer Program (ASP) offered by the Minneapolis College of Art + Design.
