Best GROUP Video
june/july 1999

VERSION 05
(Not-linked. No sound. Possible color rendition.)
((I think BandW is better though.))

VERSION 08 b
(Black and White. Linked. Including sound.)

- - NEW VERSION 10 - -
(Iplemented the change of cursor (enlarged) over the "best" box)
(This version is interactive from the start (no 10 second play-only intro.)
("Cleaned up" version. Richer sound)

Also, in case you need it:
The CLOCK
(A stand-alone version of the countdown clock)
(NOT linked back to the VERSION 10 piece)

Notes:
1. The movie is constructed to function as both: self running feature, as well as an interactive environment.
2. The self running portion runs approximately 10 seconds in the beginning, and then movie automatically "fades" into the interactive mode.
3. The following are implemented interactive features:
a / moving the cursor to the left and right affects the direction of movement for the conveyer belt with large packages. To aid the navigation, and point to the central box - all "fringe" boxes become progressively more transparent and eventually disappear all-together. Turning around brings them right back.
b / the direction of movement of the "best package" determines the direction of flight for the flies/bees as well as the "BEST VIDEO OF THE YEAR" title. Flies/bees hover above the same and only one box. As the bees travel away from the center stage - the buzzing fades out.
c / as the user scrolls to the left or right, the cursor changes to small triangles pointing the opposite directions. The triangles indicate in which direction one ought to scroll in order to find the "best" box. When moving the cursor over that box - it changes into a diamond.
d / holding a mouse over the "best" box causes it to change its color from black to white, indicating its uniqueness earlier detected by the flies/bees.
e / a mouse-down on the "best" box fades the movie out into black and links to a page with the countdown clock. The clock page (best_clock.html) contains a small Shoskwave movie which calculates the amount of hours, minutes and seconds remaining until September 9th : the announcement of the winners. My suggestion is, that once the "Best Video" is announced, that this page either contains a link to the video, or has the video actually embedded on it.
f / a mouse-down on the clock box brings one back to the main piece (so the user can toggle between the two pages.
IMPORTANT! : the only version properly linked at this point is version 10 (the one I am happy with). The two shockwave files use relative pathnames in order to establish a link between the two pages. When placing them on the server make sure that these documents reside in the same folder, and that the two linked documents are called: "best_10.html" (with the piece on it), and "best_clock.html" (with the countdown clock on it.) Of course i will be happy to advise further on that if necessary.
